The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers

Monday, August 21st, 2006

If you haven’t done it yet, pick up this albumn! The blend of Jack White’s (White Stripes) raw musical energy with the backdrop of Brendon Benson 60’s Beatles-Kinks influence flourishes in a smorgasbord of buzz guitar riffs, twangy and sometimes psychodelic licks, vocal harmonization, passing power chords and catchy Beatlesque melodies. Power-driven, rock-out tunes like “Steady as she goes” and “Level” are intermixed with accoustic ditties like “Yellow Sun” and psychodelic blues tunes like “Blues Viens” (e.g. Zeppelin meets Beatles). This variability is another stregnth of the albumn. The only dig on this albumn is that it is short, but it is a tight package. Jack White is on a tear. By the way, the Raconteurs are on tour and scheduled to play the Virgin Fest in Baltimore in Sept 2006, along with the Who, Flaming Lips and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Check the Raconteurs out:
